Guest guest
Play a cat and mouse game with your thoughts. Imagine you are a cat ready to pounce on a mouse coming out of its hole. Only that the mouse you want to pounce on is your next thought. You will notice that this makes the thoughts 'shy' and they will be reluctant to come out As this game progresses you will notice that you will be able to 'feel' the moment prior to the emergence of the thought! You will come to recognize the very subtle birth place of thoughts! Soon after that you will be the master, not your thoughts! Happy Hunting. Guest guest
Noticing you don't have any thoughts is a thought itself - but none the less, I think you are on to something. I think I love you, Larry Nisargadatta, Jan Sultan <swork@m...> wrote: > Play a cat and mouse game with your thoughts. Imagine you are a cat ready > to pounce on a mouse coming out of its hole. Guest guest
One can think of this sort of game as a kind of " stalking oneself " . Of course the form of Inquiry advocated by NM is also a kind of " stalking oneself " . But this game goes beyond the stalking of " thought " per se. It is as if when no more mice come out of the hole there are still subtle ghost mice, and after that still subtle wisps of mouseness. It can seem like quiet mind, but the place is still haunted. C.f. in this regard: I am not ... the thinking mind. Neither am I that unconscious state of nescience, which retains merely the subtle Vasanas (latent impressions or mental tendencies). -Ramana Maharshi, " Who Am I? " [nescience - not knowing] As for " you will be the master " ...of course this cannot mean " master over " anything. It is as if the cat begins to realize that the mice it is stalking are only dream mice in its mind, and that the dream mice are springing from the cat's desire for mice, and so-seeing the desire for mice dies, and then the cat sees that its own sense of catness arises from its own desire to be and then its desire to be dies and then there is no cat and no stalking just the Awareness into which has receeded and dissolved all of it. -Bill > > Jan Sultan [swork] > > Play a cat and mouse game with your thoughts.
