Guest guest
SNM used to talk about the state of no mind. A state he used to describe as total awareness, silence and peace. This, of course, is nothing but the mind at rest. The mind at rest is realization. The mind when not used to be in this state, succumbs to the temptation of wanting to experience itself while at rest, which brings about unrest. The trick, of course, is not to care. Whether at rest or not, we are, what we are. It can't be captured because there is no one outside to capture it. So relax, rest! It's cool! Guest guest
There's no such thing as someone who's missing it. It's kinda funny. Nowhere the silence is not. Just walk around Flushing Meadows on a bright morning, and enjoy. Roll on, Dan Nisargadatta, pete seesaw <seesaw1us> wrote: > SNM used to talk about the state of no mind. Guest guest
))) Are you calling me a liar, yellow Buddha? Majarah referred to this state several times in his talks. He call it no mind state several times. He also calls it the deep blue state. don't ask me why. Maybe he had realizations in technicolor. Maybe you could sue his estate for illegal use of an exclusively Buddhist word. Guest guest
> I think << no mind >> and > << emptiness >> are exclusively > in Buddhist speech. Wisdom tells me I am nothing. Love tells me I am everything. And between the two my life flows. -Nisargadatta Maharaj nothing = emptiness What is interesting to me about this quote is the sense of movement between " the two " . Also note that he makes two separate distinctions: Wisdom/Love and nothing/everything. It is a puzzle for the mind trying to grasp " non-dual " . Which is to say no real puzzle at all. -Bill phamdluan2000 [phamdluan] KKT: I don't think SNM talked about the state of << no mind >>. He talked of the << state of beingness >> or << I Amness >>. Guest guest
Hi Bill, Thanks, good quote. Although it could be further simplify as KKT puts it. I could chop it even more this way: I'm nothing. I'm everything That's true insight. Really, that's the insight that cuts the rope. When that insights comes, when you see it, feel it. When it hits you: Yes, there is nothing here, and yet everything is. Even illusion is, even samsara is, Then,I'm completly free, because I'm nothing. I'm invulnerable because 'nothing' can't be hurt, or experience any lost. Yes, I'm invulnerable because, I'm everything, and have nothing to gain. Yes, I'm not, and yet, i'll always be what I am. Yeah, that's the ticket. > > Wisdom tells me I am nothing. > Love tells me I am everything. > And between the two my life flows. > -Nisargadatta Maharaj > > nothing = emptiness > > What is interesting to me about this quote is > the sense of movement between " the two " . > > Also note that he makes two separate distinctions: > Wisdom/Love and nothing/everything. > > It is a puzzle for the mind trying to grasp > " non-dual " . > > Which is to say no real puzzle at all. > > -Bill > > > > > phamdluan2000 [phamdluan] > > KKT: I don't think SNM > talked about the state of > << no mind >>. Guest guest
Pete, A few comments: I didn't see KKT's version of the NM quote as a *simplification*. It is different. Interesting, something to ponder, but different from the original quote. What interests me in the original quote: > Wisdom tells me I am nothing. > Love tells me I am everything. > And between the two my life flows. > -Nisargadatta Maharaj is his reference to a flowing between " the two " . This, to me, is not captured in your simplification. I find a correspondence between KKT's Fullness and NM's " Love tells me I am everything " that I do not find in your " I am everything " . That's just my take. Hard to explain, but the other two versions seem to convey something of the " flavor " , the " taste " that yours does not. -Bill pete seesaw [seesaw1us] Friday, November 15, 2002 9:13 AM Nisargadatta RE: Re: No Mind Hi Bill, Thanks, good quote.
