SNM used to talk about the state of no mind. A state

he used to describe as total awareness, silence and

peace. This, of course, is nothing but the mind at

rest. The mind at rest is realization.

KKT: I don't think SNM

talked about the state of

<< no mind >>. He talked of

the << state of beingness >>

or << I Amness >>. He also

talked of the << beyond I Am >>.

I think << no mind >> and

<< emptiness >> are exclusively

in Buddhist speech. This is the

difference (at least in exposition)

between Buddhism and Advaita.

No mind is pure emptiness, rest, peace, intense

awareness. It's not something to

be understood. It's a quantum jump of that feeling of

being you have right now, to a new

level in which, being and not being merge and are

realized.

Since that can't be aprehended by the intelected. It's

most likely that it will be realized while meditating.

All you have to do is sit, rest, subside, be silent,

be aware, lie there like a cat by a mouse hole

all eyes, all ears, tail twitching, whiskers

trembling, ready to jump.

Pete,

This reminds me of someone's characterization

of meditation as " sitting and watching the

tiger play " .

The key vib I get from your message is the

playfulness.

Which is the key vib I get from just about

all of your messages.

Ah, playfulness! Lila. The universe is my playground.

Watch it! I think you're trying to kick sand in my

eyes. :)

Life tells me I am movement.

Emptiness tells me I am stillness.

And between the two, my awareness

wroggles.

Ha!

So wroggle is how you wriggle out of a boggle.

Handy indeed.

That's right but the commentary is there. Maybe an Understanding of

this commentary will make it eventually go away.

Better to focus on the need to comment. Is life felt as too evanescent?

Is the commentary an effort made by the intellect in order to solidify

and possess existence? Can the intellect masquerading as an 'I " ever

enjoy life, or any of its experiences? Trying to perpetuate experiences

by translating them into words is a fool's errand. The immediacy of life

can never be recreated by words.

Yes, maybe the need for commenting should be examined. The commentary

is backed up by very powerful emotions and these emotions give

substance and meaning to one's life. However, this meaning is based

on limited memories and can become very rigid, narrow and repetitive.

Commentary is not always of the NOW but analysis is. Analysis is done by the

trio - ego, nerves, mind - .

To be or not to be.-- Shakespeare

To do is to be.-- Nietzsche

To be is to do.-- Sartre

Do be do be do-- Sinatra

What has been quoted against Sinatra may be a joke but look closely and you may

find how it makes fun of intellectualism. One may try to understand the reasons

why we are here and about the " ME " and other things but there is one

constant..Its only Life happening! and commentary or no commentary - nobody can

outguess Life...

outguess itself! :-)

! hehe :-) Zat is right! Life is an experiment. We are too.. The more experiments

we make the better...that is how we will be what Jesus said we should be -

BEING IN THE WORLD but NOT of IT.

I have had difficulty understanding " being in the world but not of

it " . I guess we must realize ourselves as the Unmoved Mover of the

world, that timeless clear space from which all arises, and then we

will experience the world but not be a part of it. Unplug from the

material Matrix so to speak, so that one can enjoy the material

Matrix from the viewpoint of the One. :-)
