Guest guest
The eight awakenings might seem to parallel somewhat the eight jhanas ( states of absorption )but they differ in one essential point, they are not trance like states. They are perceived in what Shri Nisargadatta called the natural state of samadhi. The 8 awakenings: 1) awakening to bliss. 2) to pervasive beauty 3) to pervasive love 4) to pervasive radiance 5) to endless being 6) to endless space 7) to endless emptiness 8) to neither existence nor non-existence Mail Plus - Powerful. Guest guest
The order is interesting. For me it has been the almost exact reverse order, the only difference being 7 before 8, and skip 6 as somehow " given " (a priori). Bingo! Maybe bhakti is going *up* this scale (1->8), and jhana is going *down*! -Bill pete seesaw [seesaw1us] Friday, December 06, 2002 9:54 AM SufiMystics Cc: Nisargadatta The 8 awakenings The eight awakenings might seem to parallel somewhat the eight jhanas ( states of absorption )but they differ in one essential point, they are not trance like states.
