How to jump?

Sitting on the shores of time and watching it pass by sometimes

silently & gracefully and sometimes turbulently & violently--whether

I could jump in it and be lost forever and ever...then i would simply

be there-tommorow,today,yesterday and now...and where would it carry

me ?

What would it be to be carried away by the river of time..no future

and no past.

What is it that keeps me from taking that jump, what am I clinging to?

Jade.

Dear Jade)))))))

The one who would jump *is* the problem. What are we always up to? The

desire or effort to jump comes from this same one. We are constantly

reinforcing the identity with all kinds of phenomenal relationships. There's

Jade the Mom, or the sister, the daughter, the musician, the woman (I

presume you're a woman;-) all these things- can only be dropped effortlessly

when seeing how they come about is understood, and seeing them in action

takes place.

The notion of surrender is impossible for the ego. The ego is *an activity*

of grasping in the response to a percieved problem or threat. That is why we

become spiritual seekers...it is the same grasping and desire to escape that

the alcoholic percieves and performs, only in a different direction. Freedom

is always already here, but you must see yourself clearly, see your

feelings, thought and motivation. The seeing of it is freeing in itself,

there is no need to jump anywhere.

Hi Shawn,

What you said above is so right: " The ego is the

activity. " And the method is just to STOP. But

to look for a method to stop is a trick. There is no

method, but to STOP, cease, subside, just BE. Once

we totally stop all mental activity for a few minutes,

a seeing takes place that changes everything, and then

when activity returns there is no doer and freedom

is there. Freedom from activity and inactivity as

well.

Best,

Pete

You have a lovely way with words Jade.

It is the clinging to an illusion which stops you from jumping, stops you from

truely being.

It is true, the ego cannot surrender, it is the ego itself that gets to be

surrendered. Surrendering is not an act, but a lack there of, as is the jumping

you are referring to. To truely do nothing is to jump.

To internally STOP! in the midst of clinging - with no internal movement of

conciousness, no safety mechanisms, no internal damage control, not moving

toward anything, not moving away from anything, just a frozen, isolated cling, a

perfectly still holding, this is to have let go. In non-action you have acted.

You have for a moment, surrendered your illusion.

I say go for it Jade... dive in!
