If not the Self (the I--I) might find itself in a highly restrictive reality until death much like those in Oliver Sacks " Awakenings " . How much of our psychology is brain based would be hard to say. The ego, which is formed in response to physical experience, may reside in the physical brain. The question's only other relevance is for a body that is experiencing the above situation, in which case, it will be answered for that body at the time it occurs.
