Guest guest
" So what is witnessing sleep? Remember - 30 people could give 30 different answers but it could be described as a 'continuous awareness' or a sense of 'not going away' or you may notice the process of ego falling asleep (or ego waking up) as in thoughts get farther apart, more random - feeling inertia or heaviness of mind/body, then awareness only . . . " Hi Larry, Allow me to suggest version 31. No one witness deep sleep. If there is witnessing it must be some other state. There comes a point at which a seeker on waking up becomes aware of not having been there. There is an awareness that this 'not being there' is always the case. That being there is a trick of memory, that all we take to be us is based on memory, and since memory is absent in deep sleep there is a complete absence of " I amness. " That the Self is a realm of not happenings and yet that there could be a subtle awareness of that absence is quite incomprehensible and in that incomprehensibility resides the rub. Clear as mud! Guest guest
This reminds me very little of a sex seminar in which the expert on stage quite casually announces there are 50 different ways for a man and woman to make love. Someone in the back of the room yells " 52 " The expert continues - " No, there are only 50 " Again, " 52 " is yelled out. The expert says, " OK, we'll list them . . . one,man on top, two, woman on top ... " The person in back of room interupts with an enthusiastic " 54 " L Nisargadatta , pete seesaw <seesaw1us> wrote: > " So what is witnessing sleep?
