Guest guest
Hi everbody, I'm Jonas from Germany, in my early forties. I had practised zen meditation for years while at the same time attending the weekls meetings of a local Sufi community. In 1987, I stumbled upon Nisargadatta Maharaj's writings - and since then, all questions I've ever had to life have been answered forever. Not that my ego had disappeared or that I became " enlightened " , I continued being the same person as before, but still, the ego had lost much of its power upon me. From 1999 onwards, I started travelling to Bombay regularly, attending Ramesh Balsekar's morning satsangs. During one satsang, I suddenly went into a state of bliss I'm completely unable to put into words, it was far beyond the realm of words and terms and concepts. When I returned home, everybody was asking me: " What has happened to you? I've never seen you so relaxed and in peace with yourself? " That state of bliss hasn't lasted either, I'm still that complicated and moody and melancholic being I've always been - but I have no problems any more with being that person. I simply accept it and let it go. That ego may well survive, I have no problems with it, because nobody will ever be able any more to convince me that this ego is of any importance at all. It just happens, like anything else in this universe just comes and goes, appears and disappears. To quote again from Ramesh Balsekar (from that very satsang with him I'll never forget): " The ego is nothing else but the sense of personal doership ... This ego is not necessary for the things in the world to happen. " Another quotation from Nisargadatta Maharaj I love very much: " When you know beyond doubting that the same life flows through all that is and you are that life, you will love all naturaly and spontaneously. " Regards to all, Jonas

It is a relief, yes? if you don't fret too much, you can observe the " you " in action and then there is a objectivity that begins to unloose the tangle of ignorance. If you simply watch and become interested in what this ego is, the unravelling takes place all on its own, or you may say that the higher Power does it. > From 1999 onwards, I started travelling to Bombay regularly, attending > Ramesh Balsekar's morning satsangs. What is this knowledge you > speak about? devi: we all may know that we exist but there are different levels of knowing this,,,enlightenment is the deepest level.. All the sages I have heard agree that NOTHING is added in > realisation. devi: i think its just *thought* semantics, i can say nothing is added but everything is removed..everything including body/mind complex...nirvana is NOTHING, maybe thats what they mean by NOTHING is added... The one who is, is present now. devi: yes, but do you know that one at the deepest level of your being It cannot be anything new or that implies it being able to be taken away later. devi: no, your real being is not new, and it can't be taken away, whats new is that you know it now clearly and perfectly.. > > But I'm confused and you are realised, so perhaps you can clarify? > devi: lets not get into i have it and you don't, it's not comfortaable for me my kids are pestering me so i can't look over what i said, maybe some of it is inacurate..
