Guest guest
Trying to perfect oneself is as trying to wrestle oneself to the ground. When will such an endeavor end? And who will be the winner? The Zen Monk walked along bent over by a heavy sack he carried over his shoulder. A master came by and asked him, "What are you carrying in that sack?" "My aspirations." "Where are you taking them?" "I'm taking them to perfection" "It's right here. Look around!" "There is nothing here but bushes and rocks." "If you just drop your aspirations, you'd see the perfection you seek among these rocks and bushes." Gassho, Pete

But for the sack to drop you need to see the need to drop it, you have to want to drop it, try to drop it, and then realize it's impossible. And when, finally, you give up the effort to drop it then, the sack somehow drops by itself. Seeing the saw, Pete
