Guest guest
When we think about surrendering, the only thing we probably don't include in the list is ours believes. Our believes are like ours skin, our first and most important line of defense. And like a snake, we outgrow, shed and acquire a more protective set of believes. Do we ever stop to think how this shedding and acquiring effect reality? Do Christians have souls, while Buddhist don't? Is there an afterlife for believers only? If you believe in something, you can be certain you are protecting something. Would it not make sense to take a look at what you are trying to protect? What is it? Does it need protection? Is it there at all? What are you protecting it from? And, finally, does believing protect you from anything but uncertainty? We need to believe because we need to be reassured about the future. We want to feel that we will have a future and that it will be good. The present is never enough. Is it? Why? Just asking. If these questions are disturbing forget about them. Guest guest
And if we take realization to be some kind of knowledge, understanding or belief, are we then continuously realized? Up to your old tricks again Pete? Cuz I know that you know that realization is not a state, continuous or otherwise. And why would you say "if we take realization to be some kind of knowledge, understanding or belief..." when I know that you know that none of the above are true? Cuz you're up to your old tricks! What a rascal you are!!!!!!! -Bill pete seesaw [seesaw1us]Saturday, June 21, 2003 12:43 PMnisargadatta Cc: advaitatozen Subject: Questioning believing >beliefs are a relationship with the unreal - >knowledge is a >relationship with the real.>scientifical metaphor - - beliefs is to unicorns, >knowledge is to >gravityThank you, Trem. Your answer brings to mind that I misspelled beliefs, which brings to mind that we don't know what we know continuously. So do we believe what we believe continuously? And if we take realization to be some kind of knowledge, understanding or belief, are we then continuously realized?
