Guest guest
" To know that consciousness and its content are but reflections, changeful and transient, is the focussing of the real. " Notice that he refers not just to the content of consciousness... but also to *consciousness itself*. [consciousness *and* its content] His statement embeds the statement: " Consciousness is but [a] reflection. " I point this out because some seem to consider that consciousness is the ultimate reality. Nisargadatta does not. -Bill PS: notion of " focusing of the real " is interesting. What is this *real* he speaks of. Typically that which is beyond consciousness he refers to as " awareness " or as " the absolute " . Is he speaking of " focusing of awareness " here? If so, what does focusing of awareness mean? The refusal to see the snake in the rope is the necessary condition for seeing the rope. One must also know that a rope exists and looks like a snake. ** If you do not wish to receive individual emails, to change your subscription, sign in with your ID and go to Edit My Groups: /mygroups?edit=1 Under the Message Delivery option, choose " No Email " for the Nisargadatta group and click on Save Changes.
