Guest guest
My son and I watched a DVD last might called " Trekkies...A hilarious look at the universe's most fervent fans. " Evidently there are thousands of people who have designed their life around the television show. They attend hundreds of gatherings to be with the stars of the series during which they wear the costumes appropriate to the character they identify with. Some of them even wear their costumes to work. One lady insisted on wearing her red Captains outfit, complete with lazer gun and other paraphernalia to jury duty. They all appear to be obsessed with collecting anything remotely related to the show. After the laughter settled down and my son had gone home; I was thinking about what would motivate these people. Is it that the mind creates a fantasy world which is predictable and more comfortable? Is it an attempt to gain control over a world that seems out of control? What were they looking for? This morning, after coming to no conclusion concerning their motives, I was talking with my wife. " So....What do you think about those people? " , I asked her. " Oh " she said, " They're just searching for something.... maybe kinda like you. " " What do you mean? I said....... " I'm not like those people! " " Well " ....she said .......... " You travel all over the country to sit with the stars of the mystical world.......You have a 1000 books in the garage. " She smiled and put her arms around me. " I don't want to talk about this anymore. " ..........I said.

" hur
