Samadhi of Jessica

Oh no, Jess -- we've resorted to throwing quotes at each other, now,

have we?

There are probably five million quotes you can come up with

promoting some kind of absolute permanent state, many

of them derived from Hindu thought, like the quote

below.

If you look harder though, you can find at least a whole lot

that say there is no permanent state, and which look into

the kind of grasping involved in claiming or going after

one. In fact, this is the raison d'etre for Gautama's

(at that time and place) revolutionary way of teaching.

But, obviously, there is no permanence in a quote.

One day, not only will the individual who made that claim

for himself or herself be dead, but the entire culture

that supported that language and thought will be gone,

that planet will be defunct, and that solar system no

more.

So, rather than throwing quotes about permanent samadhis

or satoris, I'd

much rather hear from you, Jessica, what it's like

for you to be there.

Clearly a second-hand report is very unreliable, and certainly

is also a transient phenomenon.

Sure, Jess.

To meet Robert is to know something that never

changes.

Sheesh!

Don't worry, though, 99.9% of what passes for spirituality

is just greed, anxiety, and wishful thinking dressed

up nice and pretty.

So, for this, we can give Adi Da some credit, that he

wasn't able to dress it up so well that no one saw

through his negligee.

Omigod!

He's just as screwed up as everyone else!

This is where the search for some kind of permanent

state leads folks.

To ceaseless finding and disillusionment, finding

and disillusionment.

The strangest is when they get so addicted to finding,

that they try to avoid any disillusionment.

Oh well.

Life goes on.

Say hi to Robert for me.

Smooches, hugs, and frolicking shitheads to you, too!

Great way to evade the issue, Jess.

No, this isn't something personal about you, nor

is it anything to do with testerone.

It's just seeing what's going on, what's so,

and what isn't.

If you want to know what's so, that's one thing.

If you want to play games, and talk about hair shirts,

and have fun with repartee in an e-group -- no problem,

you and about ten million other people.

One who is drawn to truth, finds that truth strips away

everything that is not of truth. This is so for males,

females, good girls, bad girls. None of that stuff is

relevant.

You can't help yourself when your time comes, anymore

than an apple can help falling from a tree.

Everything is a matter of timing.

And no -- this isn't about you, nor is it about you using

the wrong word.

Truth has nothing to do with you in fact.

You'll find you have no place " here " , nor I.

Nothing has any place here -- that's why everything

is included " as is. "

And that's why there's no need or even

possibility to be in a special state,

or know you are some unchangeable being

in all your glory.

No, Jess.

It's not about amusing you and amazing you with how I can

spin words and be better. That's not what I'm doing here.

And the truth is not all about keeping Jessica amused -- far

from it, in fact.

I don't recall us discussing any issue. I recall that I posted to Steve and

granted.....could have expressed myself more clearly... could have said, "

what i think you are referring to as pemanent samadhi, is referred to as

sahaja samadhi " and then posted what Robert wrote and next thing I know

you're accusing me of " throwing quotes " about permanent samadhis...reminded

me of the early days on Net of Jewels...going for the jugular! which happens

to be why Manuel eventually changed to no membership posting, because it was

getting so nasty.

I had to go to work Dan and jokingly told you I'd be back.....seems you

didn't like my humor.....but you're sounding more and more like Judi these

days.

You haven't dropped this yet, Jess?

It seems like old news already to me.

Sahaja means natural, doesn't it?

As in uncontrived?

> and then posted what Robert wrote and next thing I know

> you're accusing me of " throwing quotes " about permanent samadhis...

I didn't know that was an accusation. Is throwing

quotes against the law? I saw a show that suggested

bowling with dwarves should be made illegal.

Okay, I unaccuse you, if that helps.

> reminded

> me of the early days on Net of Jewels...going for the jugular!

If that's all it takes to get your jugular, I hope you

carry a lot of band-aids with you.

So, you threw a quote. So what? Life goes on.

Do you really want to go into this? Does it matter to you?

It doesn't to me.

Maybe you can talk to Manuel about it?

Why not? I thought I did.

but you're sounding more and more like Judi these

> days.

Now, that's funny. As if.

You sound upset by our exchange.

But, how does this little exchange compare with

losing the entire set of identities and associations

that formed me, my experiences, and my world?

Nice-sounding quotes and happy, beaming teachers are

great.

But what happens when the void comes knock, knock, knocking,

asking for everything you have taken as you and your

sense of reality?

Hello, candy-gram :-)

Well, I'm not sure she meant it as a compliment,

but who knows?

As if I could ever ...

Sometimes, Judi, I notice some interesting

synchronicities, where I respond

to something and then see later you

responded similarly.

It happened again earlier today, when I

responded to Joe that his " fine " commentary

was just after-the-fact stuff, and

then saw that you had said something

very similar.

We often have similar " reads " on things,

although we may express it differently, and

go about things pretty differently.

Speaking as convincingly like Judi as possible,

Sheesh,

Dan

I'm not upset by our exchange, just astonished!

the Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde of Advaita... Clear and insightful one time, and

slippery as a snake when it comes to being honest the next! you're a

psychologist too! wow! lol! spinning words to your advantage. Interesting!

That's the whole point of my bothering to write to you...Dan. You haven't a

friggin clue where I've been, what I've been through...and who gives a shit!

but as I told Judi, " Oh God, how I love self-appointed gurus! "
