The permanence of Now

Hello All,

Thanks for the posts. There is just one question I have after

reading the responses. It has been said that NOW has no beginning or

end (kinda like the Melchezidek Priesthood of the New Testement). So

to understand what has been said that there is no permanent state, is

this to mean that NOW is not, or should not be looked at as a state

to be attained? If I understand you correctly Dan, NOW is the only

reality so our " attaining " it is irrelevant because the " me " who

wants to attain it is fictional anyway? Boy I hope this makes sense.

BTW Jess I did enjoy your Adams post. I have not learned anything

about this man but I did enjoy the post. It really made me think

of " The order of Melchezidek " spoken of in the New Testement.

Hi Steve,

I think you got it -- you cannot attain Now. " Now " is just a word, a

thought which represents 'what is right now' which is obviously

always the case. You cannot have what is right now. You can think

about it if you want, though. :-)

One thing I like to do is sense the texture of the moment now --

listening intently to the sounds, the temperature of the air on my

skin, looking at all the shapes and colors around, and watching the

thoughts arising and disappearing.

This may seem like you're coming into the now, but really what is

happening is you're just using the attention to observe what's in

front of you.

You can't " be in the now " or " return to the now " as this (your direct

experience) is always now. The attention can be focused on what is at

hand, right now, or the attention may be wrapped up in thinking about

this or that.

The permanence of Now

Only one?:-)

You can look at it in whatever manner you want to.

However the conceptualization of " now " ,........is not the now.

To attain anything , the " attainer " has to be apart from the " attained " , is it

not?

Who or what is not the now, .........which can attain the now?

> If I understand you correctly Dan, NOW is the only

NOW is the only reality,.....

... and in the very stating as so,..............all that has happened, is

conceptualizing.

It's like a dreamed-up character of your last-night sleep dream, affirms the

reality of the Dreamer.

The affirmation is essentially dream-stuff.
