P: Yes, emptiness (sunyatta) is a good killer concept, it points to the lack of substance of any concept, or mental construct. So is impermanence ( annica) which points to constant, all pervesive change, specially the impermanence of all mental states including those of bliss, peace, and silence as experienced by the brain. And finally, Anatta (no self)which points not only the lack of an individual self, but the lack of self for anything, including a universal self. All things have a transitory being which depends for its relative existence on everything else ( co-dependent origination.) This four principles are the four great liberating tools of Buddhism. They are 'terminator' concepts.') Pete > >
