Exactly. You wouldn't. Being satisfied with what is could be said to be a sign of somebody who's awake. > > p.s. > maybe this 'enlightenment business' > and pain are related somehow, don't you think? " Enlightenment " arises with " dissatisfaction " . Seeking something other than 'what is', IMO, creates the problem of " achieving enlightenment " . IOW, enlightenment is a construct of a discontented, searching mind. " You " create the problem/existence/ultimate panacea of enlightenment. Leave enlightenment alone and face the problem, the dissatisfaction directly. (You creating the idea of) " Enlightenment " is creating the idea for you that there is a way out. But there is no way out of here! The idea that there is a way out is only your thought of it. How bout them apples? :-) Joe

You got a rude awakening coming if you think enlightened people are free of pain! Go punch whoever you think is enlightened in the belly. :-) But don't let me intrude in on your fantasies. Again, leave them alone! Your chasing your thoughts and creating a world which doesn't exist with people that don't exist. All you can do is face your dissatisfaction directly. Right now, you're running. Get some New Balance, they last the longest. > a true seeker is honest " True " or not, a seeker is rummaging through bones in the graveyard looking for gold. These " bones " are the arisings in Mind -- which comprise everything that can be known -- anything that is felt, seen, heard, whatever... is impermanent, without self, and inadequate (in Buddhism known as the 3 marks of existence). You are searching through these arisings, hoping one of them -- a nice one which takes away your pain -- will stick and last forever.
