Guest guest
nisargadatta maharaj is a great man & he is guiding people in the right direction... his method was to shut out all perceptual phenomena... by doing so, one becomes intimate with pure consciousness... this method is traditional in advaita vedanta... i learned nisargadatta's method... now... i have found another way... rather than shutting out the world by will-power or by self-effort, i.e. through intensive meditative & contemplative techniques (which are all still ego-bound), why not simply open ourselves up & receive it freely without effort? we are that which we seek... why not simply relax, open up & receive the free gift of absolute consciousness- bliss which we always already are??? yours danananda Nisargadatta , " nandanjoshi " <nandanjoshi> wrote: > The philosophy of the Nisargadatta teaching as per my perception is " > One to know who I am. Guest guest
There seems to be accurate understanding of Maharaj's teaching here. Especially if one stays with the basic core. All I can do is tell people who they are, if they are sincere they will discover this simple truth; was and is his teaching, as i understand. With the many experiences and ways in which he arrived at teaching this; it is easy to elaborate and lose that core. On a Question as to understanding the Indian techniques, he said. " Don't worry about it, none of this has any meaning. I do it mostly for my Indian people . They are familuar with the practices, and makes them more comfortable.I enjoy it, it does no harm and may be helpfull, so why not? Guest guest
" The philosophy of the Nisargadatta teaching as per my perception is... " >>>>>>>>>>>>> Per *my comprehension* of Niz's teaching, your synopsis is: a) incomplete, and b) inaccurate in part. It is incomplete in that " realization of I Am " is only a stepping stone per Nisargaddata, not the Ultimate. As for " inaccurate " , your references to implied efforting and " how to's " (such as when you say: " to avoid this drifting away one should... " ) is utterly not-the-Nisargadatta-teaching. That being said, the *spirit* of what you say connotes lightness and ease, and to the extent that such spirit prevails over any sense of *effort*/should's ... ahhhh... all the better! : ) Bill PS: To understand my comments about " incomplete " you should real *Prior to Consciousness* and/or *Consciousness and the Absolute*. - nandanjoshi Nisargadatta Thursday, June 17, 2004 11:51 AM philosophy of the nisargadatta teachings The philosophy of the Nisargadatta teaching as per my perception is " One to know who I am. The basic knowledge of I AM is without name/shape etc. Subseqent knowledge gathered or tought . and that is not self knowledge. That basic knowledge one should adhere to forgetting or keeping away any subsequent knoweldge earned /gathered. stay put in the basic knowledge - that is divine enjoyment. Any other knowledge is only mind play or word play. The maya i. e the material attraction will try to drift you away from the divine enjoyment and to avoid this drifting away one should the sadhana i.e. may be dhyanam, bhajan, meditation is just like daily shaving to keep you everfresh mood. It becomes just like breathing which one need not have to do knowingly/intentionally it just happens without knowledge. Reaching this stage is only the ULTIMATE. ** If you do not wish to receive individual emails, to change your subscription, sign in with your ID and go to Edit My Groups: /mygroups?edit=1 Under the Message Delivery option, choose " No Email " for the Nisargadatta group and click on Save Changes.
