Guest guest
According to Osho, the intellect is only a bridge between instinct and intuition. But as he says, many people (almost everyone I would guess) stay on the bridge and never cross it to the other side. People build a house on the bridge itself. Instinct is what takes care of all of the very advanced functioning of the body without our conscious awareness of how all things in the body are done. So instinct makes the intellect free to run without having to bother about how to for example make food into electro- chemical processes in the brain. Intuition works similar to instinct in that it knows how to function in all situations. While the intellect is a 'higher' functioning than instinct, it is nevertheless often very confused and limited. Intuition is 'higher' than the intellect and is the state of the human mind after it has crossed the bridge of the intellect. What Osho calls intuition, J. Krishnamurti calls timeless insight and Anthony De Mello calls it awareness and so on. /AL
