Guest guest
" Discover all that you are not--body, feelings, thoughts, time, space, this or that--nothing, concrete or abstract, which you perceive can be you. The very act of perceiving shows that you are not what you perceive. " -- Nisargadatta Maharaj How about the thought " I am making this choice " ? When you make a choice, are you aware of yourself making a choice? Of course you are, but since you are aware of the choice and aware of being a chooser, you are not the chooser, you are the awareness being aware of a 'you' making a choice. So you are Choiceless Awareness. But you do have an ego that will hate the concept 'Choiceless Awareness' because if true it will make the ego powerless. /AL
Guest guest
Anders, Stop all that, stop it, stop it, stop it - get a bottle of vine go into the woods and drink it there and then stumble arround there, across the roots, stones and plants - but no longer in your mind. Stop that shit ... Thanks Werner. This made me relax a bit. Soon maybe my mind can relax totally. That would be nice. /AL > > > Nisargadatta , " anders_lindman " > <anders_lindman> wrote: > > " Discover all that you are not--body, feelings, thoughts, time, > > space, this or that--nothing, concrete or abstract, which you > > perceive can be you. Guest guest
Basically agree except that there is no ego. And Choiceless Awareness (the only kind) has never seen one. I want to be able to have an influence over my situation. I want to be if not powerful, at least to have some power. The idea of having no choice is sheer misery for this part of me that wants to be a somebody. But then I realized that maybe it's not that important who or what makes things happen. In fact, if it is the Universe as a whole who is responible for _everything_ I do, say think and feel, then there is a very powerful force that is in action, and the little " me " with individual responsibility can melt into the choiceless ocean of being. The important thing is that I can feel good and relaxed in both mind and body. If the Universe can make me feel really, really good at all times and make me enjoy all that is happening with immense joy then I am all for Choiceless Awareness. Then I will Let go and let God. Completely. And that will not even be a choice. :-) /AL > > - > anders_lindman > Nisargadatta > Friday, July 02, 2004 4:47 AM > Choiceless Awareness > > > " Discover all that you are not--body, feelings, thoughts, time, > space, this or that--nothing, concrete or abstract, which you > perceive can be you. Guest guest
And that will not even be a choice. >>> Well said. There can never be a motivation for being free. And there is no " you " behind what you do anyway. The ceaseless activity toward truth is the Truth itself acting ceaselessly. Therefore you are already Truth acting ceaselessly. And when that becomes conscious all falls away to stand shining in seamless wonder.
