There are two futures: (1) The future you think about, and (2) the

real future. The real future (2) is forever separated from you. The

other future (1) is an extrapolation from your memories and thus does

not contain anything new.

Day after day, moment after moment, ask yourself: this future I take

to be so real as to making me anxious and nervous, what is it? Ask

yourself: " When will I experience this future? " The answer will

be: " I will experience this future in the future " . But can you ever

BE in the future? No. So how can you possibly experience the future?

You can't! What are you afraid of? The answer is that you are afraid

of a spook in your mind, a chimera called the future.

This is what I believe is one of the differences between a sage and

an ordinary person. The sage has no future, while the ordinary person

has a future.

Look at all TV commercials; their message: the future is sooooo

important! Look at all politics: the future is sooooo important. Look

at the education system, the wellfare system, the health care system,

the financial systems of the world, the religious systems of the

world - they all give the same message to the poor ego: the future is

sooooo important.

You and the future will forever be separated. How important is an

illusion? Still living in a cage, are you? ;-)

At this moment everything, _everything_ is taken care of. Then you

say, " but I have to plan for the future " , then I say, " please go

ahead, plan all you want, who's stopping you? " If you think you need

to plan for the future, then you need to plan for the future. If you

think that thinking about planning for the future is not needed, then

thinking about planning for the future is not needed. :-)

No one can ever do anything wrong. Not you. Not me. Ever. See? :-)

Maybe the future is a _necessary_ worry, and the past a _necessary_

burden until something deeper than the thinking mind is experienced.
