Pride and the ego

Pride is perhaps the last stronghold of the ego. If the universe can

work perfectly fine without the ego, then what role has pride? The

ego will probably not let go of pride no matter what. So if pride

drops away you can be fairly sure that it is the universe who is the

sole doer and that the ego has not done anything ever.

If the ego has not done anything, why then is pride needed? The

answer is that the ego is necessary to create the illusion of being a

separate individual. This is Lila, or God's divine game of hide and

seek. So the answer would be that pride is needed as a part of God's

game; existence playing with itself. But why this suffering and all

these wars? The anwser may be that God's game is infinite and is

going on for all eternity. Contemplate infinity.

But if pride drops away, then will the game end? No, pride can

remain, even though you in reality know that you are not doing

anything. Pride then becomes entertainment. Winning a game - pride.

Loosing a game - shame. Do you want to play again? :-)

What about all starving children? God's game is probably bigger than

anyone can imagine. And what is time? When did time begun? I say that

time begun now, and that there never has been any starving children.

There has never been any past. The material world is Maya, sheer

illusion.

" The world is unreal to the core. -- Nisargadatta Maharaj

" But the world is real " , you may say. Then: dream on! :-)
