Guest guest
Hi Robert, > > Yes, we do not create our thoughts we use thoughts, you are using > > thoughts and you are responsible for the thoughts you think, you can > > also change your thinking. > > > > If you are thinking negative thoughts so too will you experience > > fear, beliefs about fear and vulnerability and these other beliefs, > > you hurt yourself more with your own thoughts than any believed to be > > real fear.>> > I would say that we do not create our thoughts or use them> Yes, we do not create our thoughts but we do use them. >because > that would imply that there is someone in control of thoughts and how > they are used, and no such entity exists> You exist and you use thoughts, the you is the personal self which includes what people call the ego, your personality etc, it is how you know yourself and how you think of yourself. > Rather, i think we are used by thoughts. The thought stream arises and > the body and emotions respond and do various things> People are only used by thoughts if they are not aware of why thoughts are arising and there is no awareness of how they manifest. This is very clear when there is an awareness of how thoughts manifest. >Again, who is > present to do anything, including " use thoughts? " How would this take > place? It seems that you think there is an entity present to do this.> Yes, the personal self, everyone has the capacity to understand why thoughts manifest and how they manifest, and also to change their thinking. > > Also, stopping negative thoughts will only have a positive effect if > the root of those thoughts is no longer present> If negative thoughts do not manifest at all, there are no negative thoughts to manifest from any root. The root that you speak of is the *reason* they manifest and this can be known. These causes can be known and recognized, they need to be recognized. But there are not roots as such, thoughts arise for *reasons* and these reasons can be found out. >To refrain from > thoughts that are fearful does not in itself stop fear> Not refrain, understand why thoughts that generate fear arise, if these thoughts that generate fear do not then arise, then there is no fear to happen. Fear arises with our thinking and thinking patterns. It doesn't happen by itself. >I would say > that the fear comes first from the belief that there is someone to be > preserved and protected and then the thoughts arise from that. The > thoughts are symptoms, not the cause.> Why do the thoughts about fear arise, until that is answered the fear will remain. Whether they be the conceptualization about something being protected or any other cause. Kind Regards, Scott.

Guest guest
Hi Stefan, > > Yes, we do not create our thoughts but we do use them. > > yes, thoughts are using thoughts... Thoughts do not utilize thoughts and thoughts are not responsible for how and why thoughts arise or their own production. Thinking can lead to certain emotions and thinking can lead from one thought to another, like a train of thoughts where one leads to the next. But from one thought to the next there are with definite links which cause these thoughts to manifest and this cause is not other thoughts. The above is one example only. A good book with exercises that will allow this to be seen as a *perception* and not a belief is Ernest Woods' very good book called 'Concentration' Here is the amazon link if you want to check it out; http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/- /0835601765/qid=1095240630/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/002-2366287- 9132841?v=glance & s=books & n=507846 Kind Regards, Scott
