Guest guest
I have read somewhere that it has been scientifically proven that: " MEDITATION CHANGES BRAINWAVES " How can be such a thesis in any way scientific? Very loughable, sorry. Everything can apparently change brainwaves if the measurement methods are fine enough and a causation is assumed. Then the terms: what the heck is " meditation " ? It has " scientifically " being proved that TM meditators can levitate their bodies. Haha. Meditation has to be defined in order to put such a thesis in context... Maybe it means to nearly fall asleep in an upright position? Good luck to any scientist, sounds like a century project... who will finance it? And what for? Guest guest
Over the past century science has come up with lots of things quantum theory, bells theorem, godel,searle,libet......bla bla bla most of which are eagerly lapped up by religious men to say - " look we told you so " but imho science and maths though axiomatic in their basic premises are logical and objective(??--thou many will raise the bogey of heisenberg/schrodinger) the other day i read an intvw of a neurosurgeon who said if the parietal lobe of the brain is simulated with a suitbale current..person can get an Out of body experience. I think the day is not far of when science will be able to explain most of the so-called mystic phenomena and lots of godmen will have to shut shop.may be all these things have a solid scientific objective basis and the old men of yore uneducated as they were tried explain it off by mumbo-jumbo. it strikes me that no highly educated person has every claimed enlightenment---(im excluding balsekar since to me he looks like a doubtful case:-)))(LOL) of course religious men will say thats becoz their intellect came in their way.:-))!!!!! endless conceptual chaos. rgds, devendra --- Stefan <s.petersilge wrote: > I have read somewhere that it has been > scientifically proven that: > " MEDITATION CHANGES BRAINWAVES " > > How can be such a thesis in any way scientific? Guest guest
Exactly... So we need to understand " What is Meditation??? " Can some body pls tell me " What is Meditation??? " And if there is such a thing like " How to do meditation?? " Meditation the Zen way /upasana way/ the XYZ way // whatever ...:) ..even i read the same few days back... the research was done on some buddhist monkss... and it seems that the harmone release pattern of those who meditate r different .... they r less prone to excitations.... murali, Stefan [s.petersilge] Thursday, September 23, 2004 11:24 AM Nisargadatta science I have read somewhere that it has been scientifically proven that: " MEDITATION CHANGES BRAINWAVES " How can be such a thesis in any way scientific?
