Guest guest
Very few people in the world are familiar with Nisargadatta Maharaj...... ......and it is likely to stay that way. No one really likes the hear things like:..... " You are the child of a barren woman. " Who wants to think about that kind of stuff?

Are you saying Niz did not coigned that phrase? or the concept of no entity? So, Do you see that believing that is not enough? That a brain can think and believe, 'I don't exist', and still behave and feel as if it does. Pete

" child of a barren woman " pre-dates Nisargadatta by many years. ....as does the concept of no entity. > So, Do you see that believing that is not enough? Sure.......But the brain is not the " thinker " ....it is the mechanism...through which thought flows. What does the phrase: " You are the child of a barren woman. " mean to you Pete? toombaru
Guest guest
> > What does the phrase: " You are the child of a barren woman. " mean to you Pete? It's just a cute phrase he used to answer someone's specific question. Just a metaphore people liked. Out of context means little, and it certainly can't be used as a general statement which proves nonexistence. Pete > > >

You can't take a sentence like that out of the paragraph which gave it meaning and use it to prove anything in particular. Pete
Guest guest
" the child of barren woman " this term you will find in vedantic books. this term occurs when the nature of the world is explained. generally it goes like this- the world is not like horns of a hare or like child of a barren woman....which can never be. seeing that it exists...and we experience it but then the world is not absolutely true also..since it disapperas in deep sleep..etc.etc.... ...so this world is a mixture of existence and non-existence..the closest analogy being a dream. --- i dont know why nsg-mhj called the person a child of a barren woman.... he was a master.........but as per wot i have concluded he was taking the ajatavada theoretical path which was propounded by gaudapada..the grand guru of shankara.........this path is extremely tough and denies any reality to the world wotsoever.....the primary book being the mandukya karika.this path has it's own fascination but in these days and times more likely to degenrate into pseudo advaita. so there has been no birth,no creation...no nothing.gaudapada says-- " you have a headache??i say you have no head. " ...even zen is somewhat similar to it..or the buddhistic school of vijnanavada. while adi shanakra takes the vivartavada approach.....he acknowledges the reality of the world.......and then proceeds to demolish it. something like- " i know a headache is painful. i too sometimes have a headache...but have you enquired in the headache actually what it is..do you know that if you take such a such treatment you can approach clsoer to the cure...and so on " .......and then he proceeds to show us that the world,us and all are all the projections only..and demolishes it. this is fit for the VAST majority of us...imho. the goal is same but the approaches is vastly diff. rgds, devendra
Guest guest
btw i would like to point out that -- " ALL OF THESE ARE MY CONCEPTS ONLY. EVERYTHING I DO AND SAY COMES OUT SPONTANEOUSLY AND WITHOUT ANY LEAST SELF-EFFORT. I DONT FEEL THE LEAST AMOUNT OF GUILT - BECAUSE I AM A PSEUDO ENTITY. I AM ESTABLISHED IN THE UNICITY AND HAVE APPERCEIVED THE UNDERSTANDING. SITTING AND UNDERSTANDING IS ALL. LONG LIVE PROGRAMMING!!!!!!LONG LIVE BODY MIND ORGANISMS!!!!LONG LIVE THE HASH OF QUANTUM MECHANICS/ZEN/ADVAITA!!!! "
