The tree

Trees are among the first beings that primitive men

chose like totem and object of cult. The tree is a

force of nature, full of essential and ancestral

energy. Its roots drink from the depth of the ground,

whereas its trunk rises towards the heights, and its

branches and leaves catch the air and the sun.In other

words, the tree is like a bridge between terrestrial

and celestial energies.

That is one of the first things that trees can teach

to our daily life. Roots firmly anchored to the ground

and branches risen to the heights. This is the way we

should live, with our feet on the ground, mindful and

alert to reality surounding us, but at the same time,

without renouncing to rise our ideals to the heights.

The usefulness of trees is amazingly wide: their roots

support the terrain, avoiding erosion and

desertification; their leaves convert carbon dioxide

into oxigen, purifying the air; their branches act as

homes for birds; their fruits feed us; they provide us

with shade; their leaves and barks usually are

curative, being used in herbal teas, etc, etc.

The style of living that trees teach us is great: to

be able to offer many things and to give them all with

generosity.

Trees, especially the biggest species, fastinate us

with their immensity. And the most amanzing thing is

to think that all that immensity has been born from a

small seed. That shows us that the big and impressive

things begin being small, and that whatever project we

have, no matter what insignificant it may look to us,

if we take care of it with patience and perseverance,

it will become a reality as strong and beautiful as

the most majestic of the trees.
