Hi Werner,

Yes, fear is the movement away from something, and that something is:

thinking! Fear, as I have come to understand it, is a regulating

factor that prevents the thinking mind to go too far away into the

future, the past or into fantasies. We are always here and now, but

the thinking mind (seemingly) is not. Fear forms a boundary for the

thinking mind. So fear is not negative per se. Fear is an automatic

response to what we don't know or can handle yet. When we learn that

putting our hand on a hot stove will burn us, then we don't need fear

to tell us that anymore. But the future holds so many complex

possibilities that the thinking mind can never learn enough to handle

it without fear. No matter how much conceptual and experiential

knowledge we have, it will never be enough to handle the future in a

complete way.

When fear increases in us we are forced more and more into the present

moment. Our thinking mind is compelled to relax bit by bit. And in

that relaxation there is an opening to freedom and fearlessness. I

guess. ;)

We don't have to drop realization, what we need to drop (or will be

forced to drop) is our _thinking_ about realization.

LOL Kip,

I am very optimistic that you find a way to enjoy your work or to

find satisfaction in a stoic attitude.
