Hi Deirdre,

As I understand it, there are three main paths of Yoga which all lead

to the same realization: Jnana Yoga (path of wisdom), Bhakti Yoga

(path of devotion) and Karma Yoga (path of action [selfless service]).

I would guess that Nisargadatta was a Jnani.

I agree with the other respondent that Nisargadatta was a jnani,

but I also understand that for some 30 yrs he scrupulously performed

a religious puja which would be a form of bhakti or practice of the

yoga of devotion. Apparently he kept doing this performance even

after his full awakening and it had become unnecessary. The body,

mind and personality and their activities have their own momentum

that keep going-on even as we awaken and are no longer involved in

them

as a custom i guess in India when a seeker relies on no guru, no

religion, no specific god, no specific sadhana, etc.... but still is

a seeker, then he is called a " jnani " ...

as for many of us here westerners we don't give a damn if Niz is

situated in the Indian tradition of yoga, we take him as a clear

thinking man of our blue-eyed tribe.

Some call it Nisarga (Natural) Yoga, to emphasize that

he is only concern with your Natural State as I AM as

opposed to those who obtain their wisdom from the

scriptures, etc...

the question is not whether he came here by plane or train, the

question is now that he is here what does he do?

does he tell you practice this?

worship that?

And to emphasize that the spiritual scene is a total confusion with

the multiplication of names and practices all more useless than the

other.

Yes, that's OK. You are a miserable dealer, my dear! Forget even

about selling vacuum-cleaners. You would have to spend at least a

lifetime to repair the vacuum-cleaners you have deconstructed at

home.

What a crap!

Eric loves to deconstruct. He loves that soo much that after having

deconstruct what he has to deconstruct, he construct it again just

to deconstruct it again! Well at least he enjoys it.
