Ramana used questions like these many times. His approach was quite simple.

>> Can Asia, Africa, America, Europe and all other things that you know or are

aware of ...exist ...without you?

>>Do any of the problem, right or ‘wrong’ you associate with them, ...or any

other things exist ...without you?

If so, ...where are they in your ...Deep Sleep?

Do they come and tell you, ...here I am, ...I am Australia or do you look at

them and say, ...hey, here you ‘are’, ...You are USA ?

....

......

Do they have an ‘independent’ existence ?

If so, ...where they go when you are ...in Deep Sleep?

....when, there is no separate identified ‘self’ to recognize and acknowledge

them ‘apart’ from ...you ?

......

....

..

You give power ...to things.

You give ...’your’ power to things !

First you see the body and say, ...this is me and then via body you recognize

and empower ...all things!

Only by receiving the power and light of Self that the ‘things’ take their

existence ....!

....Self is the Only One that exist by itself, ...that exist independently

....without needing anything else.

My view of deep sleep is that we can actually never know if we ever

have been in deep sleep. What we call deep sleep is a memory

experienced now, or we could call it a gap in linear memory experience

now. Consider the present moment. What if the present moment is all

there is? Then time does not really strech into the past in a linear

way in the form of an absolute timeline. Time - including the entire

past history record - is now and only now. Past is then more like a

timeless structure of information experienced now, inluding ideas of

having been in deep sleep. This timeless structure that we call the

past contains information about a history record, but does not contain

time itself as an aspect that is somewhere else than now.

We can experience the now. Can we experience anything else?

Dear Anders,

State of Deep Sleep is pre `individuality'.

....there is No individuality to know it as in ...apart from something

else.

All distinctions, all `things', name and forms are completely lost.

Self alone remains ...

Ramana has explained it very well using many examples such as honey

even though gathered from different flowers still taste same and in

honey, there is no way to which is from which from which flower ...

Or water from different rivers, lakes and ponds forming cloud where

there is no way to know which came from which ...

I could not find the exact quote today. But, I might be able to find

it by searching.

....else, I will search and see, if I can find something today or

tomorrow.

With warm regards,

ac.

Maybe its possible to know the state of deep sleep. But for me, all

that I am currently aware of is the present moment. I don't know if I

ever have been asleep. All I have is a memory about the past, but that

memory could just be a timeless quantum state, or what Julian Barbour

calls a 'now' within the timeless configuration space he calls

'Platonia' containing all possible states of existence.
