Guest guest
One of the greatest bhaktas of all time, Ramakrishna, would plead with the Mother to let " just a trace of ego " remain so that he could enjoy the pleasure of worship, eventhough he knew that all separation (from the Divine) was just an illusion. Nisargadatta (as well as more than a few others)say that in actuality, Bhakti and Jnana are ultimately one. As they say in BA (Bhaktas Anonymous): " It works if you work it. " Anyway, it's kind of a silly question, no? Of course Bhakti " works " . Just ask Krishna and the Gopis. (I'm not referring to the rock group from the 60s, by the way, although they were pretty heavy into devotion).
