The whole " enemy within " concept is such a cliche' that it hurts even to think about it, much less witness people's blind belief in such an absurdity. Thanks, fmraerdy, for the clarity. And speaking of words, I have finally come to the point where I can let go of such emotionally and mentally-charged words as God, Enlightenment, Self-Realization, etc. Forget Transcendental Consciousness and similar carrots on the end of the seeker's self-imposed stick (shtick).
