And the remarkable recovery that (West)Germany made after the devastation of WW2 only speaks to the amazing resiliency and spirit of the German people. Too many people over here in the good old USA know about Germany only in connection with the Holocaust. It's unfortunate, but waddya gonna do? But if your really would know Germany then yout get in troubles: You would realize people here are not different from anyone else in this world. And then you would graps that the holocaust is possible everywhere in the world, again and again ... It would be great if the holocaust just was a specific German quality, but it isn't - that is the trouble.
