P: Good story, Bob. Nice allegories, it could be a good bed story for

seven+ kids, if edited for F words. And this is not a put down. The

need is there to teach kids this stuff early. Language gone wrong

has become more than a beast, it's a prison, a hall of mirrors

which mimics reality. More than that, we have become language,

we argue, fight and kill over memes that use us to survive.

Even people who know this, and preach against it

might still be trick into doing it in an ineffectual way.

For example, abusing the user of improper language, rather than the

language itself. Could this recent mock fight we enjoyed had been

subconsciously provoked to sabotage " our mission? " Just a little humor

about the mission part.

Humans have become thoroughly and completely seduced by their

language, and that seduction - by a " beast " which did not even need

to seduce them, being perfectly able to fuck them at will - has

caused and does continue to cause all the confusion that runs rampant

on this planet today, yesterday, and the day before that...while they

remain totally oblivious.

Humans are like, oh I don't know, monkeys that woke up one morning

and opened their mouths to welcome the morning with their hoots and

whistles and yowls and calls, and suddenly discovered they had a new

voice - to them both sweet sounding yet shudderingly scary - as they

knew not from where it emerged.

After a short while, minutes perhaps, maybe as much as an hour or

two, it became quite clear - at least to a few of them - that the new

voice was coming from inside their own heads, and that shocking

realization engendered a sense of " love " , also quite new to them, as

well as it's counterpart, " fear/hate " , each of which terms had yet to

be discerned as distinct from the general background noise their new

voice had now become.

As the process now developing between their ears became more and more

efficient, many more words - and their attendant feelings - arose in

these previously dumb beasts, and they were now able to share the

results of this mental/emotional activity with their group.

Within a very short time, all the concepts their species were even

capable of hearing in their heads, were heard, shared, and - after

the day's work of gathering food, eating it, fucking each other

whenever possible, and sleeping were not taking center stage -

discussed.

Since then, even until the present day, the thoughts in their heads -

older than any of them could possibly imagine - continue to amaze,

and confuse them, being as they are more wonderful than any sexual

partner, right up there with food, rest, and fucking. Talk is now,

and has been for thousands of years, the fourth S (along with

sustenance, shelter, and sex), speech.

Humans - those talking apes in this factual story (like it or not,

argue with it or not, agree/disagree with it or not) - owe their

general state of mass confusion and mass delusion, to their being so

enamored of, and distracted by the language (the words, the ideas,

the concepts), that it blinds them to what is actually going on - how

it happened, how it's still happening - and it will continue to blind

them because there is almost no possible way to get free from their

" beloved " short of an intentional prefrontal lobotomy. This

meta-whore, language - again, who no longer even needs to seduce

them, being perfectly able to fuck them AT WILL - is paid, and must

be paid, in blood.

So.......If what you say is true......then all of what your said emerges from

confusion.

Are the concepts and observations that you propose somehow exempt from influence

of confusion that you expound?

.....and if not.......can you trust them?

LOL. This was fun stuff. But I wonder, maybe language and thinking

really _are_ demons - demons that are there to scare us humans up in

evolution: torturing us into transcending (and embracing) thought.

Interesting idea that memes are using us, and not us using them; maybe

it is really not people who fight people but memes fighting memes.

f. I heard a few times George Carlin say

that when one is born,

comes into this world, they are given a

ticket to the freak show. (If in America

you get a front row seat ;-)).

Now. Just

as Bob is fond of saying, George says,

there are three groups of people.

First you've got your Tonya Hardings, Joey Buttafuocos,

Michael Jacksons, Scott Petersons -- the freaks.

Then the group who watches it all, takes

it all in.

Then the group who commentates on all of it,

cynical or no. He says that what may sound

like cynical criticism is actually a critique of the

cynical. I don't know exactly what he means by this.

Of course, he is of the mind that the

commentating is the most valuable position.

That would make sense, given that that is

what he does.

Just a point of interest.

Hey f:

G.C. don't know shit from shinola. ;^)

He's got one foot over the line, and one foot this side of the line,

and he's too damn jaded to step through himself. Now, don't get me

wrong (or do, it don't matter either way), I like the man - he's a

hoot, and a damn sight better comedian than his hero ever was (Lenny)

- but he's also way too enamored** of the language to see PAST (in

his case) the inamorata.

**Related Terms: attached to, becharmed, bewitched, captivated,

charmed, crazy about, devoted to, enamored of, enchanted, enraptured,

far gone on, fascinated, fond, fond of, gone on, heartsmitten, hipped

on, in love with, infatuate, infatuated, mad about, nuts, nuts about,

partial to, smitten, smitten with, struck with, stuck on, sweet on,

taken with, wedded to, wild about, wrapped up in.

G.C. has one foot over the line - enabling him to see to some degree

what's going on with people and language - but his other foot is, so

far, still nailed on this side of the line, and he can't see what

language (and his love of it) has done (is doing, and will likely

continue to do) to himself.

As such, he comments on the external world only - the silliness, the

strangeness, the contradictoriness, the blatant stupidity, etc. -

without first noting the same in himself. One can never comprehend

what's going on, when one has any kind of reaction to it, is

identified with it in any way.

While the >>results<< of language are externally expressed, the

>>process<< is internal, and that is where the " rightful "

investigation must occur (for those few who give a damn) - " How is

it, that >>I<< am so configured that language occurs in >>me<< in the

way that it does? " Or, " How is it that these particular terms

(different for everybody) have such a definite effect upon me? "

The terms are different in everyone - due to many things - but the

effects are the same, identification with words, identification with

language, i.e., getting screwed. You know the terms - patriotism,

love, god, enlightenment, liberation, hate, and hundreds of others

that once one has become duly enamored of saying them (both

internally, and externally), one is hooked, usually to the death.

That's what she (the metawhore) has planned for everyone, and her

appetite is huge.

f. He did conquer the pot addiction though.

After it had outworn its usefulness as

a value changing instrument, he began to

abuse it. He saw past that inamorata.

This one would be tougher, because it is

who he is.

f. Yeah, we better go kill that metawhore NOW

Thanks, Bob, I enjoyed that.
