Guest guest
One idea is that there only One Awareness and everything else (like physical matter) is just appearance in Awareness. But the manifestation of AI, however clever, cannot really tell us if the machine is self aware or not. --al-- anyway, al, it is not the machine who would or would not be self-aware, it would be awareness aware or not aware of a particular appearance. f. A digital machine, can it become self aware? A binary program is only made up of combinations of '1' and '0', i.e. completely separate binary numbers. Such program can never become self aware because there is no connection between '0' and '1'; there is nothing that connects the binary numbers into an individual. However, when the program is run inside a computer, that computer creates a context which possibly can form an individual, and only then can self awareness appear. If that is possible, then awareness can appear by a fusion of information and a context that is _not_ only information. Hmm... I better leave this issue for now lest this turns into a sci-fi story... :-) al.
