The ego cookie

You exist as a human being in the world. And you are connected to the

world. In your mind your are aware of this connection. Your knowledge

and perception of the world is your connection to the world. You are

like a center and the world appears all around you. In this sense you

are the whole world. Just think about it; all you know about the world

_is_ the world from your perspective. This includes everything you

don't know about the world but that you know that you don't know. Thus

your view of the world _is_ the world.

All this knowledge and perception of the world is one whole. Imagine

this whole set of knowledge, your knowledge of the world, as a flat

slab of cookie dough. Then take a cookie cutter and press it into the

dough. There you have the ego, which is nothing but the cut out line

in the dough. You believe that your self is the figure that has been

cut out, but that figure only exists when you have an ego separating

one area of the cookie dough from the rest of the dough.

The cookie dough in this illustration is essentially memories. It is

the frozen past. The slab of memories is virtually motionless, and

changes only slowly, gradually, as new experiences and knowledge are

gathered in a human being. How come then the mind of a human being is

jittery as a june bug, shaking like a dry leaf, tumbling like an

acrobat all over the place? The answer is that the human mind is the

cookie cutter, not the dough. The mind frantically cuts the dough up

in all kinds of ways. Reality, represented by the past, the dough, is

very serene, very stable, very solid and very calm; almost inert. From

this stable mass the cookie cutter creates a vast number of different

kinds of mental images by cutting in different ways. For example, when

you are thinking of a teacher you had back in school, then the cookie

cutter cuts out the information related to the teacher. This cutting

out process is very fast.

When you identify yourself with the process of cutting, with the

cookie cutter instead of with the dough, then obviously you are going

to be very suspectible and sensitive to disturbances. You will then

find yourself to be threatened by all kinds of things and persons. By

relaxing this frantic cookie cutter in action, you will begin to

experience yourself as more solid, more like a deep ocean instead of

the fragile storm-whipped foam on the surface.

As yourself: from one second to the next, how much has _really_

changed in the world?

These are all empty words .

In everything that is said I see your personal points of view.

You think that you exist in the world as a human being?

Isn't more appropriate to say that the human being exists in

the world? But where does the world exists? In YOU or in your mind?

If in your mind, then whos mind is it.Is it the Self's mind?

It all comes back to the question WHO AM I ? Doesn't it?

You can come up with all kinds of theories, but won't get you

nowhere.

TALK,TALK,TALK.

Has shadow lifting made you look like Arnold the terminator

Hi Hiladur,

All theories have to be tested. Of course the thing I wrote about

feeling like a deep ocean is very speculative. However, many mystics

experience a stillness that is much deeper than the ordinary thinking

mind. This is, I believe, a result of relaxing the mind.

Theories exist at different levels: physics, biology, psychology, and

spirituality. In biology theoris about physics can be used, but in

physics theories about biology cannot be used. Each level transcends

and includes the lower levels. Psychology is on a level higher than

biology and physics, but it is closer to biology than to physics, so

theories about biology can be used in psychology in a more meaningful

way than theories about physics. Spirituality is higher than

psychology (at least according to Ken Wilber). Theories about

psychology (the science of the mind) can be used in spiritual theories.

Every form of theory will be more or less stacking shadows when it

comes to explain That in which all phenomena appear. But theories can

explain how That operates.

Hi Al,

Healing all pieces/parts begins with ending the theories of 'differences' and

using 'consciousness-of " as point.

Isn't all theory on/of/about Consciousness, the alpha and omega of This? We

human

Beings obtaiin a great deal of entertainment and enjoyment, not to mention,

earning our daily bread in seeking routes and forms to encapsulate This, forever

moving into more Unknown, (you've heard of Einstein's theory of the Unknown?).

And then indoctrinating one another of our amazing feats of 'understandings'.

" Mind " is a splitter-upper.......not a gluer-togatherer.

I see theories as being things about things. A theory is more or less

a thing and can only deal with things (separate objects or phenomena).

But no theory will ever embrace This because This is what the theory

exists within. Even to say Consciousness is a theory. To say nondual

is a theory. Theories have their place, and can gives us more and more

understanding of how This operates, but can never describe This itself.

That could be right! " A splinter in the mind " is perhaps not a valid

expression. The mind is perhaps the splinter in the no-mind.

Yes....but that's just another theory.

Thought is just not up to the job......and thought is the only tool.

Don't you really mean:

" See there? I just split myself into awareness and unawareness... I

just can't help doin that....:-)(-: "

Sir, WHY can't you help continually falling asleep?

Sir.......There is no " one " to fall asleep....or wake up.

Again, words pushing around other words changing only the context,

and saying nothing.

It's not that I fall asleep or YOU wake up, it's more that, someone

is aware of what's going on that leads some humans to want to wake up

from the word-games, and word-plays that passes for being a human,

rather than just accepting the subterfuge.

Do you actually believe you're alive, because your mouth operates on

it's own, and your fingers operate on their own, and your legs

operate on their own?

If so, then that's what being asleep is about - thinking you're alive

with no evidence.

The so called " human " is a by-product...a residue... of the word-games....not

their origin.
