We could define consciousness as the qualia

of cumulative mutually referential states. What does

that mean? In layman terms, consciousness is

how information feels from the inside. How could

that work? Schematically, it goes like this: take

two neurons, which are in two differentent states.

A state is a mode of being. An atom, an electron

has a state defined by certain electric charge,

spin, etc. We could say the sum of its energy

characteristics is its state. When this state

is transmitted it becomes information.

So , neuron #1 is in state A, and neuron # 2 is in

state B. Neuron #1sends information about its

state (field if you prefer) to neuron to # 2. This

changes neuron 2 state from B to AB. Neuron 2

fires back to neuron 1 that now it's in state AB,

and this changes neuron 1 to state AAB. Now imagine

that going on among billions of neurons creating a

constantly changing super state. How that state

feels from the inside is what we call consciousness.

It's an information sensitive state constantly

updated by informations units gathered through

the senses.

You might not agree with this scheme, but it's

obvious, that consciousness is about information,

and that information can exist only in manifestation.

The unmanifested, what I called here the God State, that

which is prior to the universe has no second

to mirror, no reference point, therefore, no awareness

of other, or self.

That's an interesting description. The assymetric relation between

neuron A and B makes the interaction go from A to B and then back to

A. If there were no assymetry then there is nothing that says which

way information flows. I would like to expand this idea to the quantum

realm and say that interaction happens withing one superstate, and

that superstate is the whole universe. The human body is a hologram

reflecting the entire Kosmos. That's why we sometimes can feel such

profound feeling, both nightmarish and blissful. When there is balance

in the superstate then I suspect we would feel tremendous peace and

connectedness.

You might enjoy Stephen Wolinsky's new DVD " I am that I am " ... he discusses

a similar concept, pointing to Maharaj's saying about liquids meeting and

the I am is born ... Wolinsky talks about neurotransmitters creating the

notion I Am well after everything has happened. So who is a doer?!

That " I am thought is late to the party :-)
