Guest guest
I just returned from my doctor this morning... and he told me, I've got... the Big C! Yup, Cancer, oops! I mean, Consciousness. But, it hit me with the same full force impact. Now, I can't forget it, every moment there's that nagging realization, " I've got consciousness, there is consciousness in there eating away at me, consuming me, and before very long I'll be... what? " At least with Cancer, you know what you'll be - dead. But with, eek! Consciousness, who knows, who can really say? Maybe, I'll be, oh I don't know... AWAKE! EEK!! Then what? Damn RIGHT! it's not catching. The Big C(ancer) is generally a non-communicable disease - if one person, even your friend or lover, has cancer - IS Cancerous - very likely you won't contract it by merely being within ear-shot or eye-shot, being a disease that goes " from the inside out " . Unfortunately (your mileage may vary), the exact same is true for the other Big C(onsciousness). If your friend or lover has Consciousness, IS Conscious - not the ordinary walking around kind, but the Big C kind - very, very, very likely you won't contract it by merely being within ear-shot (hearing them speak) or eye-shot (reading their words), being also a disease that goes " from the inside out " . Ok... punchline... But, isn't it " curious " (your mileage may vary), how many people believe just the opposite? That they believe hearing a supposedly Conscious Human speak, or reading a supposedly Conscious Human's writings, that " something " will rub off on them? Hey, guess what, it's non-communicable!!! Hey, guess what, > it's non-communicable!!! But maybe listening to spiritual teachers makes the mind more in line with Consciousness. Then you become aligned with the now. The now is very solid. Hey, guess what, > it's non-communicable!!!>> Yes, and let's tell that to the guy who wants Jody-triple-r to make sure he sits " right up close " to Ammachi when Jodyrrr goes for his Amma Hug. Back in the day, when I was a young whippersnapper disciple, we all used to bunch up at the door before a meditation or a big event so that we could rush in when the doors opened to get seats in the first few rows so that we could get more of a " direct hit " of Special C. (only 6 grams of fat). This was not your ordinary Big C, but Special Xtra-Strength (Avataric) Big C emanating, Cosmic Vibe-like, from the alleged master's Heart Chakra. The MAIN was to NEVER sit in back of someone who we knew to be of Low C (miserable, cow dung 8th. class disciples who didn't even have a spiritual name, for crissakes!) because oviously that person's impurities would completely foul the Pure Light of Big C that was trying to get through to YOU! Believe me, it was dog-eat-dog in those days and definitely a game of survival of the fittest. I have to assume that I am where I am today only because I lacked that killer instinct to elbow aside, as some very not afraid of doing, those who were less phyically capable as I was at the time. Hmmmmmmm, I wonder where all those " first rowers " are now?

Look what it's done... to you AL. Your comment above indicates quite clearly that you don't understand what " being asleep " is meant to mean, nor what " being awake " is meant to mean. Listening to other people and yourself yammer on and on about whatever - and agreeing/disaggreeing with it - does not, can not, bring the mind " more in line " with anything - except perhaps, the abattoir queue. It can only confuse you - look at yourself. The mind is what it does, and what it does is obfuscate, confuse, divide, cut up into pieces, and talk, talk, talk inside your own head, with people you meet, and on email lists - look at yourself. There is no " true being " , there are only the words " true being " , uttered once in awhile by a transiently anomalistic energy-spike or nexus you call " me " , " I " . Somebody TOLD you the concept " true being " (or you READ it), and now you use that phrase interspersed within your ordinary conversation as though you *understand* it, but just >>that<< indicates you don't understand there is no " true being " . One could go on and on with what you've written, but I'll leave that crucial work to you alone.

You're free to believe whatever you want to believe about words from other people - or to put that more precisely and correctly, you are not free at all in that, it all just happens due to factors entirely OUTSIDE your control and knowledge, though not entirely outside the control and knowledge of everybody. When there is no gate-keeper, then any old drunken bum and his whore and their 3 toddlers can come into your home, take up semi-permanent residence, and start signing your name to their meandering points-of-view... with you completely unaware that's even going on, and when it's pointed out to you, you doubt it, loudly, and with customary aplomb. Some people actually - believe it or not - spend their entire adult lives studying the writings of other men, firmly in the belief that they're " getting it " , or " getting something " , or " catching on " , or " waking up " , or " becoming actually free " . Yup, believe it or not!

But I think that that both the individual and the > whole are equally important. 1) " Sometimes " ?!?! 2) " gloomy " ?!?! Anders, Mr. Lindman (if that's your name), you've got this all ass-backwards! Try feeling different about this. 1) ALWAYS! - Life is running the show, and you are an >>absolutely<< insignificant being in the machinery of Life. " Wake up, man. " ;^) 2) wonderful! - that humans actually have the capacity to know what Life knows - unlike ALL other creatures which only " know " what their species knows instinctively. Try to feel this: There is nothing going on in your head, my head, Toom's head, Pete's head, Anybody's head, that Life Itself doesn't already understand. If you " thought " it, Life already knows about it, and is down the road already, while you're still sitting there mulling it over. Life is being squeezed through 6 billion+ humans' brains, and it comes out as thoughts, talk, writing, about everything you can, and can not even, imagine, but Life is the transmitter, you and everybody are only - at best - receivers. Life is pushing humans DOWN into an early grave, while at the same time pulling some - not all - humans UP into an enlightenment no one has EVER experienced before, not Niz, not Maharshi, not Krishnamurti, not Gurdjieff. What is possible for you - sitting there in your very chair reading this - is unique, and no one alive or dead can take your hand and lead you out of that chair. You are not important to Life itself - there are way, way more than enough humans alive today, to do the work Life is doing here, which is primarily to survive and thrive and grow and prosper and continue, none of which is absolutely guaranteed. Humans are the brain cells of Life itself, in the very same way, neurons are the brain cells of each human body. Learn to manage the flock, rather than continuing to allow them to roam off the pasture into fruitless, dangerous parts of the farm (other people's stories about what YOU need, and what YOU are, and what Consciousness is and is not, and what Enlightenment is and is not.) It's all total bullshit. Find these things out for yourself!
