However, in a letter addressed " Dear God, " which is re-printed (I say re-printed, because I have seen this very same letter in at least one other book of Ramesh's, though I can't remember which one) toward the end of " The Ultimate Understanding " which is touted as representing " the pinnacle of the teaching of Ramesh S. Balsekar, one of the greatest spiritual teachers of Advaita.... " The letter, written when Ramesh was 84, begins: " This is my record of eternal gratitude to You. " Ramesh goes on to express deep gratitude for all " You gave me...(this and that, etc)...and a wife and family, for which I have always been eternally grateful....etc. etc. " Ramesh concludes his paean to God with the following: " Truly I am blessed. Or, indeed, my Beloved, have You not blessed Yourself?! And finally, " .....no tears aare enough to wash Your Noumenal feet. " And he signs his name at the bottom. And speaking of " dead Indians, " the heading of the page is a quote from the late, great Jnaneshwar, to wit: " I bow in worhship to that Sadguru (The Source or God) who, though in reality formless, is the very embodiment of compassion. " Maybe somebody should show this letter to the elderly German guy. It might cheer him up. Or not. As another dead guy, Hamlet, used to say: " Something is rotten in the state where Flemming lives. " Methinks.
