The person merges into the witness, the witness into awareness, awareness into

pure being, yet identity is not lost, only its limitations are lost. It is

transfigured and becomes the real Self, the sadguru, the eternal friend and

guide.

Then the real self dissolves into the unspeakable,

and identity has no meaning, either as something

to be had or to be lost.

these kriya yoga-samadhi types have made it unnecessarily daunting. if

" you " are trying to erase " your identity " , how can that ever succeed?

even if it succeeds with a .45 " piece of lead, what good with that do?

the vexations are lost. identity is not lost. the buddha did not go

around asking " what is my name? " after his bodhi. then what remains is

natural, or 'sahaj' as known in yoga. it needs no fixing, because it

is the healing love-kindness itself. it is at peace with itself, and

with everything else, including its identity (mind-memory), including

the fact that it has " limitations " of perception and body (compared to

supposed siddhis of kriya-yogis). it is existence-consciousness-bliss.

You can't.

None.

There never was any continuing identity of anything.

You're misunderstanding.

You can use language without any identity of anything

being established thereby.

There is not-a-thing left.

There is no division, no separation of describer and described,

no quality whatsoever.

So you say.

Carry on!

Dear Dan:

If what you say is the case, then, what are you talking about?

the identity is nothing other than a continuity of memory. in that

sense there is no soul or fixed identity.

that bundle of memory was called Gautam the Buddha. He still

remembered his (ex) wife and child.

each " bundle of memories " will have to find its own release.

i prefer to put it another way :)

nothing changes on awakening. everything is as before. something does

change, but that is oh-so-private.

Okay.

I would say that awakening has no continuity either, and

no one to claim it as a happening.

There isn't really anything to bundle memories together in or by.

And if you observe a memory closely, it isn't really fixed

at all.

Memories shift, they aren't static.

And the one observing memory, being formed of memory,

also has no fixity.

So, the continuity of memory is believed in perhaps, and

people talk as if it has that quality, and relatively

speaking, that assumption works well enough to keep

social roles in place.

But beyond that, with acute observation, the assumption

doesn't hold.

Nothing is continuing, ever, except insofar as language

and consensus assumption gives that appearance to things.

Which isn't a problem. A social, consensus, and memory-based

way of determining meaning has its place in the scheme of

things. It's just that there is " much more, " which

necessarily can't be said.

Peace,

Dan

Hi, hemantbhai:

Nothing changes on awakening because awakening always is.

oh yes there is. it is between your ears.

the one observing memory is the power of seeing. apart from transient

memory it has no identity. which is to say identity is transient, or,

" empty " as said in buddhism. but to take transient to mean " illusory "

or " imaginary " is stretching it. that way lies the asylum.
