As for what I'm talking about, I'm not talking about anything. You either know this directly, in which case you know exactly, precisely, that not a thing or quality is involved, and you know without involving a knower or known. If you know without anything known, it's like taking off a heavy overcoat. If not, you have the feeling the overcoat is you, it's the reality you take for how things are. Maybe you call your overcoat " awareness " or maybe you call it " my life. " It doesn't matter. " Nisaragatta " was no more this unspeakable truth than " Dan. " What he spoke were words, and those words don't give what isn't contained by words -- and never will. What Nisaragadatta was is dead, buried, and decomposed, although I do hear him groaning every time his teaching is taken at its most superficial aspect. :-) And indeed, truth isn't found in a grave. And the only reason to use a word like *this* is because human beings communicate using words. Other than that, it has no purpose, says nothing, adds nothing. When we use words, we assume someone to read and associate a meaning with the symbol. So, by providing words, delusions can be reinforced. However, if we stay silent, the silence is discounted, and delusions persist. Sometimes, the excuse is made that a thorn is being provided to remove a thorn. Yet, truth has nothing outside, from whence a thorn could be lodged, and no one residing inside, who could be damaged by a thorn. So, that excuse for using words and concepts is useless. :-) I guess one can say that human beings communicate with words due to the design of the human being - like birds sing and frogs croak.
