Wait a moment Gary,

" nihil est in intellectu quod non prius fuerit in sensu " which

means: " Nothing is in the understanding that was not earlier in the

senses " .

That statement stems from John Locke a leading figure of empiricism

and that is also the real meaning of " Nonsense " .

Hui Neng's " emptiness " or void is just a pointer to the fact that

things only get meaning though a meaning giving insrance like memory

or thought without that instance things are void.

And here I really go with you, that this " emptiness " is the real

silence: The absence of the noise and trouble thought constantly is

causing.

There is no Bodhi tree

There is no mirror bright

Since everything is empty

Where can the dust alight?

(Hui-neng)

All dharmas are void.

Swami Garyananda

All Dharmas eventually fall into the Void, as Dharma, as every-thing-else

arise in/of/as Void-a-no-thing.

Yes, Werner, the silence of the Stars, of Space, of Emptiness, to hear it--have

you 'heard' it?-- is to Be absolutely Still in the midst of all motion, in the

midst of all thoughts, in the midst of all waves and oceans....It is the Gaze

unto the Void. It is ever the Unknown God.
