Guest guest
****Lewis: Pramana in the Patanjali Sutras is one of five vrittis that impede " spiritual development " when their attachment to them. It has been inaccurately portrayed as " right or correct knowledge " as something to develop by many. The sutras instruct that such logico-deductive knowledge, inference, evidence, theory... that is , constructed by the buddhi or intellect, which is akin to " scientific knowledge, " and the fanciful creations of imagination called vikapala (i.e. turtle feathers) and the other three, are all to be treated with detachment. devi: wow, i had no idea you were so spiritual... P: LOL! That shows how deluded you are by words. You believe that knowing the meaning of Sanskrit words is spirituality. That is no more spiritual, than chewing a menu is eating. But that is all you do, move around those ancient petrified grains of curried rise on the play board, and kid yourself you are winning the realization game. But seriously folks: If one encourages another to do anything...follow any course of volitional action...... with the intention of attaining a make believe spiritual goal....both are blind. Encouraging the make believe self to " look inside " ....in itself useless......... but..............I quess you gotta tell all those seekers sumthin. toombaru

It refers to a person who has been deceived, or play upon. So I said you have been deceived by words. Asshole on the other hand, is a name. So you called me names. So now, you are a little bit less deluded by those words. ) > > devi: so, pete, what is spiritual? was nisargadatta a spiritual man? > P: Yes, but not because he knew a bunch of Sanskrit religious terms, but because he was in direct touch with pre-linguistic existence, to put it in non-religious terms. And this is what I, Gene, Lewis, and a few other say in our peculiar ways (mine more peculiar that others) learn what language can give you, and what it can't, and how it can deceive you, and play tricks with you. How much of what people believe is them, is only wrong usage of language, and bad education, and go beyond to live an undefined existence. That is true spirituality not based on words. > > > >
