Guest guest
To understand Advaita the imaginary " I " has to understand what Advaita is trying to tell me: that life is nothing but a dream. IN a dream the subject-verb-and-object are one and the same. Exactly like a dream. When the mind can somehow accept that life is just another dream, (which is on top of all its sleep-dreams) then it – the mind -- is free to be the JOY of the Dreamer, dreaming. That is all there is. Why does the mind dream? The same reason we make movies and write and then read novels: the pure JOY called entertainment. I AM and YOU ARE this JOY of entertainment, dreaming, maya. When the mind takes its entertainment, dreams, seriously then this creates karma, chaos, that makes the dream, entertainment, entertaining. Without some sort of karma or chaos all entertainment would be utterly boring. That is all there is. -=- TO understand what this mortal-dream called life is about I had to study the mechanics and dynamics of thoughts and their compartments called dreams. The Indus River sages of old studied their thoughts with/in meditation. With their study of thoughts – the Supreme Science – they woke up to the way their thoughts worked and figured out that life had to be a dream. They gave us Advaita which simply means not-two; OR – THE MIND IS WHAT IT THINKS. ANYONE with an IQ of over 50 (close to me IQ, I think )can do what these sages did and Realize the way their mind WORKS -- TO BE WHAT IT THINKS. We have this glut of information that we call information-age but few if any have a clue on what their thoughts are. You would think that physicists should know because their particles-waves-energy have to be thoughts but they are even more lost to their thoughts in this information-age than you/I are. The study of thoughts-dreams that was popular with sages around the Indus River over five-thousand years ago is buried so deep in this information-glut-age that nobody seems to have time to study dreams- thoughts and wake up to their dreaming. Once " I " accept that life is a dream then I will understand the language of Ramana and his boys when they say: " take life to be a dream and be done with it. " …. " to kill an insect is suicide " And once " you " – " I " realize that I am the Dreamer -- AND NOT SOME IMAGINARY CHARACTER IN THE DREAM –- then I am Untouchable because the character I play becomes irrelevant .. and what the characters do and think becomes irrelevant .. because it is all just a dream; the worst thing that can happen in a dream is you wake up to be what you are. GO AHEAD AND project yourself into a dream. Try it out and you will have to laugh at the absurdity of taking things seriously. YOU ARE IN A DREAM: You want to go on a bicycle ride but you cannot find your helmet. You refuse to ride without your helmet because it is dangerous... brain damage and all that. So you spend your whole dream looking for the fucking helmet never realizing that it can make no difference because it is all a fucking dream – you cannot get brain damage in a dream. SO TOO IN THIS MORTAL-DREAM CALLED LIFE. Figure out how dreams work – compare them to this mortal-dream called life and you will be the next Ramana. More and more I go around day to day as I keep telling myself that this HAS TO BE a dream because it is less real than my sleep-dreams that - for some strange reason – keep getting more and more real. My sleep dreams are often so real, in fact, that often when I wake up I cannot believe that I was actually dreaming. I may not be aware that I am dreaming in my sleep-dreams – but in this mortal-dream called life I cannot believe that it is anything but a dream. And the mind is what it thinks – take life to be a dream and it has to be a dream. I see movies that are pure fiction, like the movie The Matrix and Fight Club and to ME they are far, far more real that this-mortal dream called life. (Again, the mind is what it thinks) So much so that more and more – especially WITH ALL THIS BS WRITING – I have to keep convincing myself MORE AND MORE until there is NO DOUBT that this mortal-dream called life has to be a dream, PERIOD, no-doubts. I cannot take life to be anything more than a dream … I have to be the Dreamer. I am JOY and Laughter because I am aware that as the Dreamer I AM UNTOUCHABLE.... Because I am the Dreamer life has to be MY dream so it makes absolutely no difference if I have my " bike helmet " or if I am a beggar, a mass murderer, or pope or emperor or even " god " or the devil or even shit … THAT IS JUST THE WAY Advaita, DREAMS, HAVE TO WORK – the dreamer is Untouchable, the Dreamer is the JOY called entertainment, maya. -- NOW >--- Nisargadatta , " sam_t_7 " <sam_t_7> wrote: > Nisargadatta , " Gene Polotas " <semmin@e...> > > > > > > > > >But in this maya we call life there is no choice any more than > there is thinking and doing, so what I choose can make no difference > to what cannot happen – because Nothing Ever Happens. > >In this maya we call life there is no choice any more than there is > thinking and doing, so what I choose can make no difference to what > cannot happen – because Nothing Ever Happens. > > > Question: then why do you (this nothing) put out this maya that > you call life, take on a body, when Nothing Ever Happens.
