Listen

Listen

The most immediate, easiest, fastest bridge between you and

the Divine is your breath. You, by yourself, cannot breathe. You

can talk or not talk, see or not see, smile or not smile, but you

cannot breathe or not breathe. Breathing is something that

happens spontaneously TO you. It is the motion of that wonder-

filled, extending power called God, which moves in and out of you

and makes everything happen. So, take a moment now to experience

your breath. Feel it rising and falling in your body. This simple

technique immediately puts your awareness in your body.

Next, begin to listen, no matter where you are. Most of your hearing

is selective. You only listen for certain sounds, certain responses.

You have trained yourselves to deaden your hearing to painful

sounds and in so doing deny yourselves the fullness of life.

In order to hear God you have to stop being selective and allow in

ALL sound. As you go through your day, be aware of listening.

Pay attention to unspecified hearing. Let sound come into you, move

through you--feel--the sound moving through you and watch it

with detached awareness. Relax! Do not select. Just allow.

And one day, you will hear God.
