Guest guest
The business of seeing who " I " is, or what " I " is, is not just fancy poetry; it has a real practical result. It is not just an excuse for ritualistic self indulgence. It is not just an excuse to console oneslf with high-sounding platitudes. It is real. It gets results. It is the very first step on the path to what the ancients termed, " Atman is Brahman. " The you, who you really are, is identical with Sat-Chit-Ananda, bliss beyond compare. Lets put aside meanningless, New Age, mashed potato words and thoughts of self-comfort. We know, " I am. " We know that we are going to die; at least as bodies and minds we are going to die. So the question is; is this " I " , which I can be absolutely certain of, the same thing, or something more, or something less, than that which is going to die. Does it belong to the same realm, the same dimension? Surely you must long to know this. And you must long to know it not just as theoretical knowledge but as knowledge that you can always check out by looking inside and seeing - Yes! That's what I really am. I tell you, I assure you, you don't have to be a superhuman or a great saint to see it. It is available, it is there, waiting to be seen. What you really are is what you have always been and always will be -- once you know where to look. You must understand that if you have the attitude, " Well, just tell me and I'll figure out whether it is significant or not " then you will never get anywhere. You have to prepare yourself. You have to give careful consideration to what you ordinarily think to be the case, what you automatically think to be the case without really considering the matter and deciding whether these beliefs are well-grounded. I have done a lot of work exploring this subject and I have got some very clear, very relevant answers. I am willing to share this endeavour, I am willing to walk you through the process that I took. But there is no point in simply telling you the final answers; you have to make the effort of making the enquiry. You have to earn the answers. If you are willing to make the effort,If you are interested in getting behind your enquiry, giving it your best shot, I can help you. You will have to work, but the work is not outside the capabilities of an ordinary human. You will have to attempt to penetrate certain mysteries, but it is within the intelligence of an ordinary human. Afterwards you will have a much better understanding of what Nisargadatta is talking about and what Ramana is talking about and what Shankara is talking about. Any takers?
