Era: yes by observing vichara; self attention: After sitting (down) for (practising) 'self-attention', turning the 'attentive power' on our 'existence-consciousenss', it is enough to make it stay there only for 1-2 minutes. .. Then, when it (the attentive power), slips away from 'self-attention', after staying for a while, after relaxing the 'effort' we can just be (without doing anything), (either with or without closing the eyes). Once again, after 1 minute, again we can give a 'turn' to the attentive power on 'self-attention'. .. Now, the mind will engage itself for 1-2 minutes in 'self-attention', with a bit of enthusiasm. .. Then, stopping the 'effort' for 1 minute and relaxing, again focus on 'self-attention'. By the self-attention that is thus attempted after intervals, it becomes conducive for each effort to get freshness and a new strength. by Sri Sadhu Om Swamigal by R.K. Shankar >dev : A. Guest guest
Q. I have a critical mind and a critical tongue. Can i reach the non-dual state with these? Era: yes by observing vichara; self attention: devi: wrong...the answer is still no...either you are having a critical mind or a mind that is enquiring...both don't occur together era: " After sitting (down) for (practising) 'self-attention', turning the 'attentive power'on our 'existence-consciousenss', it is enough to make it stay there only for 1-2 minutes. devi: 1 or 2 minutes isn't going to make you self-realized...for the serious aspirant its a full time activity..24/7 era: " Then, when it (the attentive power), slips away from 'self-attention', after staying for a while, after relaxing the 'effort' we can just be (without doing anything), (either with or without closing the eyes). Once again, after 1 minute, again we can give a 'turn' to the attentive power on 'self-attention'. . Now, the mind will engage itself for 1-2 minutes in 'self- attention', with a bit of enthusiasm. . Shankar devi : this advise is for a beginner, someone who really has no strong desire for realiztion or liberation.. Q.What is the best practice for controlling my critical mind and my critical tongue? A.The tongue is easy to control, but the mind is hard to control. Why are you critical of others? Era: well, Nisargadatta scolded his stubborned disciples with willed conscience .. breaking their ego.. with a 'critical' lounge devi: nisargadatta was a self-realized being and when he critizised he did so WITHOUT an ego .....as long as your not self-realized your ego is what is being critical and that is not self-inquiry, that is just ignorance devi quoting baba hari dass: It is your own fear. You are defending yourself by attacking others. Offensive defense. You hit before one tries to hit you. The tongue doesn't function independently. The critical mind expresses itself by critical words. Era: and I doubt strongly that Niz feared anyone devi: we are talking about you and your critical unrealized ego/mind...not nizargadattas critical self-realized being activity
