Guest guest
We can picture nonduality as the hero of the cosmic film, and duality as the villain, but it's a film in which both roles are played by the same actor. The naive spectator idolizes the hero, and hates the villain. Once a spectator sees under the clever makeup, and special effects, a sense of being an insider, of being in the know sets in. But this is only half the trick, soon he realizes the villain part is as important as the hero's. Without the villain's misdeeds, the hero has no role. Once he understands how each scene is crafted for effect, the drama looses its power to make him cry, or feel exultant. Then, he might look with nostalgia to his former naiveté, when he was able to loose himself in the plot. But, if he comes to the full realization of filmmaking as art, he will be able to suspend his disbelief, and get lost in the film once again, exulting and grieving, yet knowing it is contrived fiction, great art, and just a way to past the time.
