Under the umbrella of realization, we could include mind events such as epiphanies, samadhies, satories etc. These are breakthroughs of various intensities and duration. They of course, frequently alter our mind , as many events do. Take for example a blissful or traumatic sexual encounter in our formative years. The bliss, or horror of it faded in minutes or hours, but its effects permanently altered our mind for good or bad. So the fruition of realization could also be brief, yet enduring. In another list, I wrote this about that. Time an eternity are not exclusionary, they share a concurrence beyond awareness. It's like holding a CD in your hand, or playing it. You can't do both at the same instant, experience the totality of it, and hear the music. Maybe, a better example will be an old fashioned record, on which you could see all the grooves at one glance, but to actually listening to the tune you would have to hear one note at a time. Yet, the musical piece is there as a whole both ways, but its enjoyment could be only experienced in time. These events could lead us to liberation. liberation is the freedom, the non-attachment to mental events. Mental events: good, bad, horrible, or sublime, come and go. And liberation is allowing them to do so. A total acceptance of both the impermanence of events, and the impermanence of the witness as a memory of such events, including those privileged memories labeled, " my life. " Such liberation from " my life " and " my point of view " is the highest peak, which rarified air few care to breath. Pete
