Guest guest
The first thing you must realize if you want to collapse your ego, is that you cannot simply do this without intelligence. If your ego collapses without great care, you will become a vegetable no longer able to functioning sanely. Therefore let God/Reality/Truth help you to find your way back home. al. One guess is that when the ego collapses, there is no separation between the personal you as doing the breathing and God doing the breathing. Trying to dissolve the ego by only using personal effort would be like holding one's breath. Intelligence beyond the ego is needed to make it dissolve into God. BUT, this doesn't mean that you can just give up your personal will and let God run your life. That would be like trying to give up your attempt to be aware of your breathing. al. Guest guest
Anders, The ego never collapses because it is needed. Without it you no longer would be able to communicate with others. Have you seen the Maharaj video ? His body language clearly shows the presence of an ego. When Niz was asked how he is communicating he answered that he has no idea and he is doing nothing, the body does it, the body is speaking ( and fiercely gesticulating with head and arms, hehe ). Sure, this program in the form of knowledge and experiences is needed, but maybe the mechanical funtioning of the ego can be made whole so that it functions in harmony with totality. So instead of collapse, we could say integration with the whole. I think the ego is a limited view of reality. This limitation creates suffering because it gives the illusion that we must struggle all the time. When I look at reality at any given moment, it is whole. The ego view makes it appear as being not whole. That's the illusion, I think. " Thy will be done " , is, I believe, a pointer to this wholeness, this total perspective where God and the ego become one integrated total movement. " I and the Father are one " - again, this is also a pointer to the integration between the separate self (the ego) and the whole (the Father). al. Guest guest
But, what is the " ego " ??? I guess some mean the identification with the individual personality. I also think that this may be, usually, a healthy means of personal survival. Although I suppose the opinion that it can never collapse is rather inaccurate. And, I wonder: Does sur-viving " life " itself have an ego? Does a passing cloud have an ego? lolila Stefan >Nisargadatta , " Werner Woehr " <wwoehr@p...> wrote: >The ego never collapses because it is needed. Guest guest
Stefan, Do we really have to go again into this question what is ego ? And have endless discussions again and again. Question: Who is signing his posts with " lolila Stefan " ? Who is believing he " loves " and does " know " what Love is ? Who is owning that fancy self-image to be a loving person and doesn't want to see those moments when he isn't at all that loving ? Guest guest
Hi Stefan, That ego takes care perfectly is that a joke or do you really see the truth of it ? I am maybe not as serious as you are. But I usually mean what I write. And in this case I was surely not joking, I had described it already in my first posting. Obviously you had missed this point ;-) (I could see it from your reaction). But sometimes one gets a second chance. As you can see now. So: yes! And to be more accurate: I do not see any truth " in it " . It is the very truth. I am the truth. lolila

Yes! I'm one of them! Love is a protein in the brain! There is this well known clinical case of a young man whose connection between the amygdala ( the emotional center) and the visual center, which process facial images got damaged in a car accident. He no longer could feel love for his parents when seeing them. He rationalized this fact by saying this people looked exactly like his parents, but were a couple of impostors. Now, if he talked to them on the phone, he was able to feel love and recognize them as his parents because the connection between voice recognition and the amygdala was not damaged.
