Guest guest
Enlightenment is kinda like this: Remember that old Twilight Zone episode? The one were a very bookish thick-eyeglassed man with no friends hid in a vault inside the bank where he worked to sneak away from people, (gasp!) just to read a book, his one and only pastime. Of course, as luck would have it the end of the world occurs in a nuclear holocaust and he is the last man standing on earth saved, by the thick vault. Now, (time is a relative thing, when one is engrossed in reading), he finally decides to unlock himself from his refuge and sees the devastation around him. Nothing is left, he walks about aimlessly, surveying what remains of his world. Not much but debris, not a Soul left but he. So he ascertains a certain calmness in spite of himself when open pages of hundreds of books (he wanders by the ruins of a Library) are waving in the wind and he realizes, (like Scarlet In Gone With The Wind-I still have Tara, and I'll think about that tomorrow) (Sorry, I digressed again), I have all these books, all this time, he has just gotten an inkling of what heaven always would have been like for him, and now he's got it. Except for one teeny problem he breaks his glasses as he accidentally (?) steps on them And can't see to read. Just like that he's in hell, All alone.* *note I didn't say all One Hmmm, Ana
Guest guest
Yeah, that was a groovy episode. But it's not like enlightenment at all, is it? He needs to be alone, then he fears being alone, then he finds solace in books, then he can't read the books. He bounces from heaven to hell based on whether or not his particular needs are fulfilled within his particular illusion. Duality IS hell. He never left it.
