Phil P: I perceive you to be at odds with what I say, (not me) because since you joined this list you have been rephrasing what I post. That never works in communication. Only direct questioning and dialogue clears misunderstandings and furthers investigation. Like for example, I'm questioning here why you think concepts can be expanded beyond their limitations. Concepts can never transcend their limitations. They will always be crude representations. As I said, they can only be abandoned. There is no such thing as a nondual concept. The only Nonduality is perceptual. To attain wholeness of perception is the only nonduality available. A monk asked his Zen teacher, " How can I see Buddha Nature? The teacher reply, " When you swallow the eastern Ocean in one gulp. " This points to perception without conceptualization.

Beliefs are self created prisons. What is one to do about this incarceration. Once the walls are built and the door swings shut, what can be done? If I suggest to you to stop right now and release the belief that you are a human, will this result in enlightenment? Of course not. Why not? Because it is not your choice to not believe what your senses and your experience and your awareness have shown you is true. There is no option to abandon beliefs or this would have been done long ago. Choice is an illusion. It is, however, possible to expand the walls of the prison to the point where they encompass within most of that which you see outside the window. As concepts expand, they become less limiting. The concept of God as the totality of awareness is not something that the mind is pleased with, as is demonstrated by some here who will declare it as all nonsense. This is a good thing to not be able to fully grasp a concept as it allows for awareness to expand in place of it. For one who retains the concept of God as a bearded man in a throne somewhere, there is little room for a new awareness to occur. Yes, all concepts must ultimately be abandoned, desires surrendered and thinkingness stopped. All in good time. Phil
